This is a great tutorial!
You generally don't even need to take the clamp off! I use my curling iron as a curling wand all the time and it's been fine, no kinks or anything! (I just wrap my hair around the outside)
I have an old curling iron that the plastic thumb part broke off of and now I always burn myself- I could totally do this!
