Grosgrain HALLOWEEN month

October 12, 2010

When I woke up this morning I knew the blog would be getting off on a slow start. Lily had to be in school at 8:30am, I had a dentist appointment at 9am and Molly persisted with a terrible cough so I am going to be taking her to the doctor at 1pm. Therefore Technique Tuesday will be a little late today. I still plan on posting but it will probably be up around 5pm. I hate these kinds of days. I really need to start working a day ahead.

But anywho, I suppose you've noticed my slick new banner! I wanted to start Halloween Month on Grosgrain last week but with Frock by Friday it had to take a back seat. No worries.
You know this is my favorite time of year for Grosgrain. Ever since I was a little girl I've LOVED planning costumes. I remember my mother taking me to JoAnn's and getting to look through the catalogs for my favorite costume. I always like to top myself but it's been getting harder and harder to do that as I've been getting more and more responsibilities (ie baby, book, blog) The three big Bs. Oh by the way (if you don't follow my twitter) after my dentist appointment this is what I look like when I say the letter 'B'.
So this month will be FILLED with all things Halloween. I'm soooooo excited! There will be great Halloween related giveaways and almost every post will be Halloween themed (fingers crossed). Please feel free to link with any one of the super jazzy buttons below.

Oh and have any of you been having trouble with my site as in a script error? If so please let me know.

No script errors ever on my end. I'm on Google Chrome on my Mac and everything looks just as beautiful as ever. But I must admit that your "B" pic freaked me out a bit! :)

Yes - I'm also getting script errors and the page is loading very very slowly - sometimes causing my internet explorer to be non-responsive... It's very disappointing as I like your blog very much...

got a script error the first time I tried to open your blog today, but tried again 30 seconds later without trouble. Just today though.

LOVE your costumes and can't wait to see what you come up with this year!

Hi! I love your website and your tutorials! I am just learning to sew, so I hope to one day make one of your designs. I am having trouble with scripts on your page as well. I'm using Explorer 8, if that matters. Please keep up the inspiring work, I am looking forward to your Halloween ideas!

That Red Queen costume still makes my heart go pitter-patter. Let me know when you do a glammed up batgirl - I only have a few weeks.
thanks for all the inspiration (although I could never hope to replicate any of your costumes)

Last year's Queen of Hearts was how I found your blog. Totally awesome, and I still have the post bookmarked just so I can admire it.

This year, I'm off the hook for making a costume. Last year, I had to make a Foofa costume for my then one-year-old niece, but this year, my SIL's best friend gave my niece most of the costume for her birthday. So all I have to do is make a "faerie princess crown", which is almost done, and a pink satin bag with "Faerie Dust" embroidered on it in silver and I'm done.

I need to transfer the words, but I'll probably be finished by the end of the week. I'm glad, because I have more sewing projects that *have* to be done than I really have time to do!

Love the costumes! I would have had so much fun with those as a child.

Please tell us some of your favorite costumes - I'm so uninspired this year, I'd love to hear what you've been (from kid, to teenagehood, young adult to now!). My costume last year was Carmen SanDeigo, and it was both super fun and a hit. This year I'll be Pikachu if nothing better comes to mind :)

I saw your Queen of Hearts costume on an HGTV commercial and then on their website in their 25 Favorite Halloween Ideas. It IS an amazingly awesome costume!
