Glowing Rope Rug DIY

October 30, 2012

Is this not the coolest idea?! Think of all the other possibilities! Via Johanna Hyrkas. To make: Crochet around a rope light. To do this on your own I would recommend using spun wool roving like this, this or this. And cool to the touch LED rope lights like this. And use a skip knot (tying the fabric to your hook to begin), a chain (creating a ‘braid’), a slip stitch (pulling your hook through the stitch to join), and a single crochet (sc, the basic stitch in crochet). Keep the rope between the stitches. Get more instructions on how to make a rope rug from Upcycle Magazine. IE Keep in mind that rope lights are not made to be walked on so if you do this craft be sure that the rope light is ALWAYS in tact and no wires are exposed or simply use as decoration. Use at your own risk.

Pretty Folding Chair DIY

Have a bunch of ugly old folding chairs. Use this tutorial by Design for Mankind to have pretty ones. I have a couple folding chairs in my sewing room that aren't helping to beautify the room. I might do this!

Win A Vintage Revival Bag from Fossil!

October 29, 2012

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Fossil for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Currently loving my new Vintage Revival Bag from Fossil! Crafted from hand-burnished Heirloom leather (their richest, most coveted leather to date), the Vintage Revival collection draws inspiration from the iconic vintage silhouettes and styling details of the past to create a timeless look that transcends the ages.
Comes in exotic crocodile-embossed leather, stunning giraffe-printed hair calf, and rich colors, such as spruce green and rust, that we're certain you'll adore.

The leather will look good for years to come. Fossil Vintage Revival Handbags pay homage to the iconic vintage silhouettes of the past with a timeless design and impeccable detailing. And best of all it only gets more covetable as the years go by.

Their new, exclusive Heirloom variety exceeds all expectation with a stunning, variegated finish and a level of quality you just can’t grasp until you feel it for yourself. It's burnished, stitched, and finished by hand. High-quality leather with an incredible color that only gets richer with time.

Great addition for that fall wardrobe. Available in butterscotch, rust, pecan, spruce green, and giraffe hair calf.

Grosgrain is giving away a Vintage Revival handbag valued at $298 (winner will receive either the Vintage Revival Satchel or the Vintage Revival Flap handbag – selection will be random).

DIY Custom iPhone Case (Great Christmas Idea)

October 26, 2012

Want a custom iPhone case for only $5? Via Crafty Endeavor. Just use a clear case and scrapbook paper. You could also add your monogram or name. Or print out a photo and place in the back. If you wanted the design to appear on the sides you could cut the paper with sides and modpodge it to the case. However you couldn't remove it later. But at $5 a case it wouldn't be big deal to repurchase. Might be a neat idea to make for friends as Christmas gifts! Get the link for the clear case on site.

Instagram Corn Maze!

Molly, Eloise, their Aunt Caren, Brian and I had a fantastic time at Cherry Crest Adventure Farms yesterday! I wish I would have gotten a picture of all the cars, it's a popular place in PA. One of their biggest draws is the 5 acre corn maze they cut out of the field. We've gone every year for the past four years and have never completed it. This year turned out to be different (see last photo when we reached the end)! Of course, in the past we've gone in the dark, when it's cold and that makes a big difference with the babies. Paint Roller Faux Wallpaper (This is One to Bookmark!)

October 20, 2012

Oh my gosh! This is one of those amazing ideas where you wish you would have thought of it first. Paint roller faux wallpaper! Via The Painted House. I wonder if this could be done in bigger patterns with wider rolls? It would be easier than stenciling! Can also be used on fabric! Possibilities! I love the faux bois! MUST CHECK OUT VIDEOS BELOW!
There are two separate applicators for wallpaper and fabric and the rollers are sold separately but honestly, it's all still at a very nice price! For a wallpaper applicator it's $16.43 and a roller is $24.64. Still less than you would pay for stencils and they are easier to clean! The fabric applicator is $32.85. I can't wait to see future rolls! Check out the videos to see how it works! So easy it looks like magic!

Ideas: DIY Best Friends Puzzle Piece Necklace

I have an awesome idea that I'm going to try when Christmas rolls around. I saw these puzzle piece necklaces via Wanelo and thought they'd make an excellent 'Advent Calendar' gift for the girls. This would also be a neat idea for a mother/daughter or best friends necklace. Here's HOW!

Materials
Modpodge Dimensional Magic
3 actual puzzle pieces one for each of my daughters (plastic pieces would be best but cardboard would also do)
A piece of paper with one long word like 'sisters' OR a photo of all three recipients in a group shot.
Glue
Necklace chain
Necklace jump rings

Instructions
1. Make a tiny hole in the corner of each puzzle piece large enough to fit a necklace jump ring through.
2. Create a design on paper with the word sisters OR print out a group photo of the people you are giving the necklace pieces to. Glue the paper too the puzzle pieces when they are connected.
3. Cut the paper around each puzzle shape. Separate puzzle pieces.
4. Then coat the top of each piece with the Dimensional Magic. To do this just squeeze the Dimensional Magic onto the surface of the piece and swirl around with tip. Be sure surface is smooth and thick. If you used a cardboard piece, wait under the top is dry and repeat on the back and sides. Let dry completely.
5. Add a jump ring through each of the holes you made. Then add a chain through the clasp.
6. When the pieces are connected you can see the word 'sisters' complete. If you used a group photo the whole photo will be complete when the pieces are put together.

Little Tykes Tacky Playhouse Flip

For a moment I thought the second photo was a high end wooden cottage but it's actually a tacky Little Tykes plastic playhouse repainted with spray paint. With some of the additional 'landscaping' they added this house could make it on HGTV;) Via littlebeemama.
